The Daily Devocast brings you daily encouragement from God’s word. Today’s devotional message God is My Refuge is based on Psalm 91:2. Thanks to Rod Tucker for contributing to this broadcast.
“I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.””
(New International Version, Psalms 91:2)
This world is filled with hundreds of different ways to put our trust in anything and everything around us. The problem with this is that anything and everything around us is not actually trustworthy. God is the only trustworthy being in the universe capable of taking full care of His entire creation. You see, the reality is God created us to trust in Him. When we are able to trust fully in God, as a result, we live in the quiet confidence that no matter what happens in this life God will be our refuge and our fortress.
If you are like me, you understand that trusting God can be difficult at times. We want to hold onto the promises of God’s word and at the same time, we can struggle to have the faith to hang on during some of life’s most chaotic storms.
The Good News of Jesus is that no matter how we are feeling (Anxious, Worried, or Afraid), God is still our refuge and our fortress. He always protects, always stays true, and always watches over us no matter our situation.
This is why we can say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for being my refuge and my fortress even when I am worried and afraid. Thank you for always protecting me, loving me, and for keeping me in your arms. Please help me to always remember you are God and I can keep my trust in you. Amen.
Action Step: Take a few minutes and ask God to show you how He has been there for you in some of your darkest storms. Thank Jesus for watching over you and ask Him for a greater faith to trust God as your refuge and fortress in your life.
