The Daily Devocast brings you daily encouragement from God’s word. Today’s devotional message You are Destined to Reign is based on Psalm 8:3-6.
3 When I look up at the heavens, which your fingers made, and see the moon and the stars, which you set in place,
4 Of what importance is the human race, that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, that you should pay attention to them?
5 You made them a little less than the heavenly beings. You crowned mankind with honor and majesty.
6 you appoint them to rule over your creation; you have placed everything under their authority,
(New English Translation, Psalm 8:3-6)
One of the key breakthrough moments in overcoming fear, anxiety, and worry takes place when we understand our true identity. When we find ourselves in a bad way with something in our life spinning out of control, many of us will have a series of lies going through our mind that the enemy has placed there to stall us from taking action and actually dealing with the things that are weighing us down. When we realize we’re in that sort of a moment, we need to take that negativity filled tape playing in our head and reformat it with truth from God’s word.
Verses 5 and 6 from Psalm 8 are a great place to start. If we’re willing to take those words to heart, the results can be life-changing. We’re not destined to be slaves held back by the enemy’s lies. We are in fact crowned with honor and majesty and appointed to rule over creation, which God has placed under our authority.
Even though you may not be feeling like much of a ruler in this very moment, the reality is that God has created you to rule and reign. That begins with taking authority over the things which God has placed under your direct care. Perhaps that’s your family, your job, your finances, your health, or maybe even your neighborhood. Let’s ask God to help each of us exercise Kingdom authority over the things which He has given us charge.
Prayer: Father we thank you for crowning us with honor and majesty, giving us the capacity to exercise Kingdom authority over all of creation. We ask that you’d show us the exact places where we need to be more intentional about taking authority and also ask that you’d give us the necessary understanding and resources to put those circumstances into perfect heavenly alignment and divine order. Amen.
Action Step: If God highlighted a specific area where you need to exercise more authority during today’s devotional reading or prayer, I want you to spend a few more minutes today praying about that need or circumstance and asking God to give you one specific way you can begin exercising more Kingdom authority each day for the next seven days. Be sure to write down the results in your journal.
