The Daily Devocast brings you daily encouragement from God’s word. Today’s devotional message Safe in my Impenetrable Fortress is based on Psalm 61:1-3.
1 O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer!
2 From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety,
3 for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.
(New Living Translation, Psalm 61:1-3)
We all have days and sometimes even seasons where we need rest and downtime in a safe place. And while it would be nice to physically head off into a far away place of solitude right now, that’s just not always going to be practical or realistic. The great thing is that God is inviting you into a safe place right where you are today. When you enter into His presence, you have entered into a holy fortress where your sorrows and pains cannot reach you.
What is it that’s weighing heaviest on your heart today? Ask God to bring you into a safe place where He can partner with you to bind up your wounds and walk with you to the other side of this circumstance or season.
Prayer: Father, we thank you that you are our fortress, a safe refuge from the difficulties of the world. Take us into your safe place today and give us the comfort and divine solutions we so desperately need for the things that are weighing heaviest on our hearts. Help us to see that our identity is not defined by the burdens we carry, but by who we are through our relationship with you. Amen.
Action Step: I sense that some of you today might be weighed down by some especially heavy burdens. I encourage you to create some space in your schedule today to be alone with God in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening. Ask him to take you into the safety of His presence. Spend as much time as you’re able with Him, just receiving. Be sure to note any significant encouragement or revelations in your journal.
