Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
(English Standard Version, Psalm 139:16)
Do you sometimes doubt that you’re on the right life path? After all the choices before you are infinite, so is there really any way for you to determine that you’re right where you’re supposed to be?
In my experience, we start asking these sorts of questions in those narrow places of life. Those times when we come up for air from the crazy head down pace of our day to day existence long enough to experience a few moments of extreme clarity.
When we encounter one of these clarity moments, we can choose to ignore it and return to our normal pace of daily life or we can seize it and press into it. If God wrote every one of our days in His book before we were even formed, that means there is a divine destiny and calling written over our life in a heavenly book. We have a great opportunity before us to partner with God and ask Him to help us enter into that perfect intersection of our abilities and destiny.
Prayer: Father, there are times when we’re certain that we’re on the right path and others when we feel like we don’t know what we’re doing. The Bible says that our days have been recorded in a heavenly book before we were even formed, so surely there is a plan and purpose, in fact, a divine calling and destiny that has been written over every person. We ask today that you’d give each of us extreme clarity on our calling and bring our life into a divine alignment that leads to the destiny you’ve called us to.
Action Step: Get out your journal or a piece of paper and write down a list of 3-5 times in your life where you feel that you experienced the perfect intersection of your talents and abilities with the divine calling on your life. Often these are situations and experiences where you feel totally alive like you were perfectly designed to do exactly that. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you clarity on the calling over your life in this current season and ask God to give you wisdom on how to press deeper into your specific destiny.
