The Daily Devocast brings you daily encouragement from God’s word. Today’s devotional message Bottomless Love and Forgiveness, Please is based on Psalm 103:11-12.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
(English Standard Version, Psalm 103:11-12)
Have you ever been to a restaurant where they have bottomless options? You know, bottomless fries with your burger, bottomless fountain drinks, etc. Even though the restaurant claims that these options are endless, the reality is there’s a limit in there somewhere. You’re going to get full, the restaurant is going to have to close for the day, or they’re simply going to run out of the item that they offered you as bottomless.
Unlike a restaurant that is limited by your appetite, their hours of operation, and product inventory, when God offers you something as endless or bottomless, He literally means it. In Psalm 103:11-12 God talks about His love being as high as the heavens are above the earth and He talks about distancing us from our sin as far as the East is from the west. The depth and scope of God’s love and forgiveness here is being expressed in immeasurable terms. It’s essentially endless. Let that sink in. God’s love and forgiveness for you knows no limitations.
Prayer: Father, we thank you that you love and forgive us at a scale that is beyond anything we can even fathom. We ask that you’d help us to fully accept that we are worthy of your love and compassion. Make it more and more real to us each day. Amen.
