About the Author: Elaine Pofeldt is an independent journalist who specializes in writing about careers and entrepreneurship. As a senior editor at Fortune Small Business magazine, she was twice nominated for the National Magazine Award for her feature stories.
She went freelance in October 2007 and has since written for publications including Fortune, Money, Inc., Forbes, The Economist Intelligence Unit, CNBC, CBS Moneywatch, BNET, MSN, Global Trade, Working Mother, Good Housekeeping, and a variety of other print and online publications. At Crain’s New York Business, she served as a contributing editor, focused on the weekly’s small business coverage. At Fortune, she has written a column called David vs. Goliath, looking at small companies that are taking on giant competitors.
